At PotterworldMC, we have a staff team that helps manage our community to ensure that we are promoting a safe, fun, and friendly environment towards all ages. We receive several questions on becoming a trainee/staff member every day, so we wanted to give a brief explanation of the requirements for this position, as well as answer some of the more common questions asked by our players.
What is a Trainee?
A Trainee is the starting rank within our staff team. This position allows time for the staff team to get to know the new staff member, as well as gives the new staff member time to adjust to the team. This role plays an essential part in maintaining a safe and friendly environment for everyone.
The main responsibilities of a Trainee are to answer questions, help in chat, encourage a positive atmosphere, and enforce rules.
You must be able to use TeamSpeak. Click here for a download link. TeamSpeak is a program that is free and can be downloaded on the official TeamSpeak website. This is one of our main communications platform that lets you chat via voice and text. Once you download TeamSpeak, you can then add a bookmark to connect to our TeamSpeak server. The IP to it is ts48.gameservers.com:9113
You must be able to use Discord. Another communication platform, it allows you to chat via text and voice.
You must be comfortable using a microphone. Communication is extremely important within our team, and without being able to use a mic, it hinders the ability to communicate.
Must have use of your own personal gmail account. We use gmail for a variety of reasons within staff. This email needs to be a gmail, it cannot be yahoo or hotmail, and it must be private to you.
You must be at least a 5th year on our server. Our staff should know how the game works at each level. It takes some time to get to that point, but those interested should be embracing the knowledge that is available to all students on our server. This will benefit you if you do get accepted as a Trainee by having that prior knowledge.
You must be at least 15 years old. With age usually comes maturity. We are not saying this is always the case, there are of course exceptions! However, in our experience, people of the ages 15 and older possess the qualities we look for in a staff member.
You must have a clean record on PotterworldMC. When we look for potential Trainees, we look for students that are knowledgeable and abide by our rules. Think about it this way: if you cannot follow the rules, how are you supposed to enforce them amongst other students as a Trainee? Rules keep our server a safe and friendly environment. All of the rules at PotterworldMC can be found at potterworldmc.com/rules.
Last but certainly not least, you need to have a positive attitude. Potterworld is constantly growing, changing, and evolving. Having a positive attitude throughout different transitions is extremely important to being a member of the staff team.
**All of these requirements must be followed if you’re applying for a staff position. Exceptions may only be granted by Head Staff.**

I am interested in a different position (Builder, Director, ect), how do I apply for one of those positions? Most of our positions require you to first become a Trainee and then be promoted to Prefect prior to being eligible to apply for a position on a team. If you want more information on a specific role, you can ask a head staff member.
Can I apply if I don’t meet the year requirement? It’s rare that we hire anyone that does not meet this requirement. It is normally only in special circumstances and that person must have permission from a head staff member in order to apply.
Can I apply if I am under the age of 15? Only if you have permission from a head staff member. It is extremely rare that a head staff member will bypass the age rule, and we will never hire anyone younger than 13. If we find someone who we want to bypass this rule for, we will contact that person. Please do not contact head staff to ask.
